Drum Legends > Steven Adler
Steven Adler was the original drummer for 80's rock legends Guns 'n' Roses. The band burst onto the L.A Glam rock scene in the late 1980's with a raw, hard edged sound and look. Their debut album "Appetite for Destruction" catapulted them to international stardom and they enjoyed a string of hits including "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Sweet Child 'O' Mine". Steven's raw drum sound and playing were a feature of the album and a welcome relief from the over produced, drum machine sounds of the 1980's.
Through out his time with Guns 'n' Roses Steven had issues with drug abuse and in 1990 after several attempts at helping him get clean the band fired him. He has continued to play drums with his own band Adler's Appetite and even appeared on one track of guitarist Slash's solo album but unfortunately his drug problems continued.
He earns his place in the Legends Gallery for his dynamic live performances with Guns 'n' Roses and his contribution to the classic album "Appetite for Destruction". Check out Steven at his best on the track "Paradise City":
